JG - we will miss you.

Enough said. The premature departure was unfortunate, but we're very proud of you. xoxo

We were talking about various ways of organizing one's bookshelf last night - riveting, yeah? Well, I wanted to reference this photo in the Pottery Barn catalog, but the conversation redirected before I could get a word in. Isn't this ridiculous? Perhaps the photo stylist was influenced by Rachel Whitread.

just tell me not to leave my house.

What do you guys think of this crocheted collar? I spotted it on Etsy and turns out its made locally in Virginia Beach. It's 25 bucks, which is cheap compared to the one I spotted recently in Anthropologie ($198 - yikes!). I have a tendency to like the bizarre and walk a fine line with taste. I just don't want to pull an Angela with her many rosettes and bubble skirts. Like the tweed button-covered hat I wore recently - I think that purchase may have been a mistake, but it looks great hanging in my closet.

almost 30.

Today I'm officially almost 30, as it is my 29th birthday. Will I mature this year into an adult woman? Will I start working out at Curves or join our neighborhood garden club? Or will I continue to take delight in taking pictures of crocheted stuffed animals or salt and pepper shakers? Hmm...

Just got this little guy, but really want this guy.

Also, anyone interested in going to Crafty Bastards in D.C. the first weekend of October? I have a minivan...

There's a great article on Michel Gondry in the NY Times Magazine this week.

The week since my vacation has flown by, thankfully. My vacation started during the torrential rain storm two weeks ago on Friday. Later that night, we joined JenC & the Whites for some karaoke at Cruzers, which we probably haven't done much since Jen moved away 5 years ago. Eye of the Tiger, Manic Monday, Hungry like the Wolf, and a painful Puff the Magic Dragon were the highlights. TWhite also does a mean Air Supply. I didn't sing, as I'm feeling a bit self-conscious these days.

Also received some interior design consultation from JenC, who is doing really well at in interiors firm in NYC. She suggested I paint our wood stove red, so I immediately went shopping for chips the next day.

A very productive weekend it was before we took off to L.A. I primed the wood stove and we painted the sun porch - the hideous knotty pine panels - a beautiful pale warm gray with white trim. Now we need all new furniture (ha!).

I absolutely love Los Angeles. Tried to stop by the Junc Gallery to view Camilla Engman's work, but didn't make it (irregular hours). Hit all the museums, including the Getty where Clay and Sarah saw some of their friends in the cafe visiting from NY. All of our friends were amazing hosts - Clay, Sarah, Nicole...thanks. A very delightful vacation - and we had our luggage! No celebrities spotted, except for B-list Robert Davi. Know him? Thought not.

We're BACK!!

Did you miss us? We had a blast in L.A. and I'll post details later, as I must continue to work today..eergh. I was hoping some of my projects would magically disappear while we were gone, but they're still here and now overdue.

In the meantime, you can view pics here.

Rain, rain, go away. I really want to go home today.

Barely anyone came to work today. I would leave, but I don't know how to get home.

I better get brownie points.

Ernesto decided to drop by Norfolk.

Church Street

It's usually not a good sign when a news truck pulls up beside you, but fortunately, I didn't make the broadcast. I probably was the only driver to take pictures while crossing this little river. And yes, those are waves in the foreground.

On another note, I wore my new button shoes yesterday. I left work with only two buttons on one and one button on the other. Sucks.
