Every downtown has its eccentric characters which give the city flavor. We have "singing lady," who at 12:30 every afternoon, walks down City Hall Avenue flailing her arms about and singing to the best of her capacity. Her volume is so loud that I can hear her from our 4th floor office.

When we were talking about her and hula hoop lady the other day, I forgot about the young guy who walks around the Little Creek/Chesapeake Blvd/Tidewater area holding up ad papers (like from the grocery store) or hip hop album posters, pointing at them and grinning.
I haven't seen that guy. I'll keep an eye out next time I'm in the area.
I have also seen this singing lady, and she gets around town. And I don't mean that in a sexual way... I have seen her singing at the bus stop in front of depaul hospital, and also rockin' out on virginia beach blvd., in the janaf area. And I love that Amber mentioned the hula hoop lady, because I love the hula hoop lady. Sometimes hula hoop lady likes to be jump rope lady. She is adding to her repertoire of... roadsideaerobics.
my personal favorite is the shuffler. he shuffles all over downtown wearing a hard hat.
sweet
Makes me wonder what singing lady does when she isnt' singing.
Can she sing?
My favorite is the Crying Lady of Ghent. The one that sits over on 21st by Suzy's and just cries non-stop.
I actually had never seen Hula Hoop Lady until about a week ago. I was fascinated. I kept bugging Sean for more details about her.
Sean said he thinks the Pilot even interviewed her once.
hey rob- the pilot did interview her. My mere told me about the interview. Apparently she used to be a rather large woman and she lost all of her weight hula hooping. so she's a dedicated hooper. If you wanted to know more you could tell her youre from the something, something, gazette and- ask her all you want to know. well, you said you were fascinated!
wow
She coudl start a hoola hoop weight loss
dealo and make millions.
She could be the before and after example of course.
I love the hula hoop lady!
If I ever run for office, I'm going to give her plenty of t-shirts to wear while she's working the hula hoop.
Rob, i saw the crying lady last night, on my way down 21st st. to pick up sprocket. i think her name is suzy, ironically enough.
