craft mafia

Approximately 15 people showed up to the Craft Mafia potluck held at Drawn to Art. The space is conducive to holding more gatherings there, as there are a few large tables, outlets, and making a mess is not discouraged.

drum battle

The drum battle at the Taphouse was a success and even reached maximum capacity before the first battle, leaving people to wait outside peering through windows.

Bobby played alongside Chris of Mix Tape for Adrian. I've uploaded far too many photos here.

cat lady

Well, folks...I've done it again. Here's another post with no content. But in the meantime (I'm running out the door), I'll leave you with some pics I took of Lucy over the weekend. Yeah, that's right. I barely left the house this weekend, so this is what you're going to get.

happy valentine's

This pin belonged to my grandmother (it's a heart if you can't tell). Have fun with your loved ones tonight.

I purchased the album "A Date with John Waters" today. Will it set the mood tonight, you ask? Hmm..if perhaps I was hosting a party for some drag queens.

tent man

Palace Green played with this dude on Saturday night at Relative Theory. The guy pitched a tent on stage, climbed in with all his musical gear, and played for approx. 45 minutes. Did I mention he wore a black hood over his face?
my husband rocks

I'm not the mushy type and one is lucky if a compliment is ever received from me. That being said, my husband ROCKS because he has become the ultimate DIYer. I'm so proud!

Ever since we purchased our house, he has transformed himself into quite the handy man. His most recent project has been the installation of our new dishwasher and faucet, plus the fixing of a leak (it involved soldering - yikes).

I thought he was the greatest when he assembled all our IKEA furniture, but now I'm really impressed.

rearranging is fun.

Thought I would liven things up a bit, so I rearranged my office. Lame, huh? I'm so much more aware of my back pain sitting in the same position all day long. Grumble, grumble. Now I can just turn my head to stare out the window instead of turn around.

I haven't seen the singing lady lately.

ennui

I have a case of the winter doldrums. I regularly stare off into space and suffer with intense feelings of guilt. I've been complaining to my mom recently and constantly repeat the statement: "I'm bored. I'm sooooo bored."

I'm not depressed. Just uninspired.

So, imagine my excitement when I opened my Believer magazine to see this article: A Case of Boredom: A Rigorous and Lyrical Examination of a Relatively New Illness.
i lost my cell phone.

Yeah, that's right. Not just my phone, but all the numbers in it. Everyone - call me at home.

the weekend

Please forgive my absence. I had a friend come in town and hosted a dinner party Saturday night for a few of our friends in her honor. I made my only concoction – the anglo version of channa masala and a zen salad (mixed greens, mandarin oranges, rice noodles, and sesame ginger dressing). Beth made the most incredible fruit tarts for us, she says, a bunch of tarts. Did I take pictures of any of the items for which I speak? Of course not. I was too busy burning the rice and spilling food and wine on the floor to take the time to document the event!

I had a very relaxing weekend – drank tea, took a long walk, conversed with friends, painted, battled Rae with Dr. P's Wii, and avoided Super Bowl parties.

Speaking of painting, remember how I was excited months ago about water-mixable oils? Well, not anymore. I've been working on a simple still life on canvas to get used to the consistency of the oils, but fought them all the way. It feels like painting with butter...or vaseline. Here are some details of the painting, as the piece as a whole is not worth showing.
