cheeky monkey

Look at those cheeks.

The little guy has gained two pounds since his doctor visit less than two weeks ago and is now a hearty thirteen pounds. What can I say? He's a breast man. They say you can't overfeed a breastfed baby, so I view that double chin as a reminder of all the nutrients he's getting.

We've been getting ready for the holidays - addressing envelopes, sewing ornaments, and trying our best to take a special Christmas photo of Avery. It's nearly impossible to set up a portrait of a baby. He does not take direction well.

We tried to take a family portrait last week and trekked out to some marshy land close by. No luck there either. Avery does not care for direct sunlight, so he closed his eyes and cried the entire time. Oh, well.

You'll get your Christmas cards by Valentines Day. I promise.

there's a new guy in town

Remember these stockings I posted about a couple years ago? I couldn't let Avery's first Christmas go by without him having his very own (even though I won't be filling it). The more I make, the scarier they look.

Did I mention that we will be playing Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus in the St. Paul's Christmas pageant? How could we say no?

And I've been trying to keep to my word about making holiday gifts this year. Now that Avery is enjoying his swing, I'm managing to get a little more crafting time. Very little, but hopefully enough.

good morning starshine

I heard grunting in the monitor this morning and found the little guy busting out of his swaddle. He usually cries when one of his limbs breaks free, but he was kicking his legs, looking up at his mobile and smiling.

More crispy edges.

it's the holiday season

And I have some serious crafting to do. After the receipt of some disturbingly high hospital bills, we've decided to just put a bow on Avery and stick him under the tree Christmas morning. The boy didn't come cheap.

I tested out some ornament ideas for the 7 Cities Crafters holiday gift swap last night. I don't usually care for the white elephant-style gift swaps, but with 20 other crafty ladies participating, everyone ended up with something cool. I received an awesome flying fish from Sloane (soon to be hanging in Avery's room) and my little birds ended up getting stolen by Tasha at the last minute.

I don't know... is a hand-made ornament enough for a gift?
